With showers of rain all over the surrounding country Knockhill once again escaped and (as far as Legends were concerned) had dry races.

Quite a good practice session on Saturday - first time out Martn was putting in some good times. After a check the tyre pressures were lowered but that resulted in slower times.
On raceday Martyn drew grids 9 and 8 - mid pack - same as last time which was a pity as it is much harder to make an impression. The quickest more experienced drivers can make it through the traffic but Martyn is still gaining experience and a low grid would certainly help as his pace is at least as quick as some of the guys that have made top 3 finishes.
Race 1...
Race 1 The race was red-flagged at the start after a coming together with three cars.
On the restart Martyn got away fine but was boxed-in behind Gerard McCosh who had to slow for another car coming out of MacIntyres (Scotsman's). He lost several places. Over the remainder of the race Gerard and Martyn had a good battle and Martyn eventually finished 8th behind Colin Atkinson and in front of Gerard.
Pace for the race was quite fast with 11 out of the top 12 drivers laping below 62 seconds. Martyn's best was 61.896 seconds
Race 2 Martyn lost a lot of places at the start - down to 10th. He passed David Hunter for 9th but David repassed him on lap 5 when the race was stopped after Aly Gauld suffered brake failure and crashed.
Race times were slower but Martyn felt the car was not good and he struggled with even straight line speed and lack of front-end turn-in. Martyn's best lap was a full second slower than race 1 at 62.905 seconds.
Aly Hunter and the team at Scottish Legends checked it over and found the settings were not right, corner weights and ride heights - so corrected that for the next race.
Final Grid 7 (I think) Going to the grid the tyres were blown up and lowered just before setting off. This seemed strange given the experience of testing on Saturday.
Car did not feel good and Martyn did not feel ale to drive as quickly as he could. Straight line speed also seemed down and Martyn was losing time up the straights compared with others.
The race was stopped after Ross Marshall and Frank Hynds came together and Frank's car was damaged. Martyn finished 10th with a fastest lap of 63.897 - although the track was definately a lot slower.
The results were not issued as there was a protest so they will need to wait intil the next meeting to find out. It won't affect Martyn's posiion though.
