Ian Ashworth's helmet in progress

this is the basic plan with this logo on the back Martyn Lyell's helmet was prepared and basecoated at the same time as Ian's helmet
basic layout all masked up ready for the first colour coats basic layout all masked up ready for the first colour coats basic layout all masked up ready for the first colour coats
YELLOW ON detail of curve at front what another 6mm looks like. might be a bit low? and maybe lose the curve
blue added and masking removed for white remember the paint is a matt finish at this point - it comes to life when I put the lacquer on blue added and masking removed for white - it's a bit lighter in the flesh - the shadow makes it look a bit darker
ADD THE WHITE PEARL AND THE RED STRIPES ADD THE WHITE PEARL AND THE RED STRIPES now a bit of lacquer t protect it all before the next stage
all rubbed down again and the top added now the sides and the IA logo on the back
with more lacquer just applied with more lacquer just applied with more lacquer just applied
The pictures below show the finished helmet after many coats of lacquer, final  rub down and polish.  All the trim is refitted and a cllear visor has been placed on it to give a betetr impression of how it'll look. All it needs now is a nice yellow/gold iridium tinted visor (only about £90!!!)
